  • Condition: Good-Very Good overall antique cond: In quite well-preserved overall cond, w/perhaps a single, slight scuff to the red lacquer & hand painted Chinese figurative landscape realized on the tabletop surface. This early turn-of-the-cent, c 1900-1920 Chinese Export American Chippendale style tilt-top occasional table, was lacquered & antiqued, w/a wonderfully realized figurative landscape illustrated on its lg, rnd table top. This 18th c mahogany antique Chippendale style furniture has padded feet that support hand carved tripod legs that meet at a reeded, columnar, ascending pedestal, that's hinged to a wooden doweled mahogany wood block at the top, allowing the table top to lay flat or to rest in an upright position. Although this form of early American furniture, inspired by an earlier English form, fell out of favor in the 19th c, it enjoyed a revival of sorts, w/the return to fashion of the suddenly en vogue 'Chinoiserie,' Chinese decorated furniture & decorative accessories. Lovely.
